DOSHAROPAN
In Shri Ramcharitmanas 2.91, a deeply tormented Nishadraj blames (dosharopan) Kaikeyi for the tragic events.
".......kaikayanadini mandamati
kumati keenh sab bisva dukhari
bhayau bishaad nishadahi bhaaroo "
".. The foolish daughter of Kaikaya has wrought cruel mischief, bringing trouble on Sita and Shri Ram, shattering their moment of enjoyment. wicked woman has.. plunged the whole universe into woe. said a sorely distressed Nishadraj."
Nishadraj is under two illusions. First, Shri Ram is suffering unaware that Shri Ram is dvandva-ateet (beyond polarities). Second, Kaikeyi has made the universe sorrowful. Our sorrow comes from our discontentment. This happens in two scenarios: when something we desire doesn't occur or when something we don't desire does occur. In such situations, we must remember that we shape our reactions and attitudes and should not evade responsibility for them. Our woes emanate from our own actions and attitudes (karma).
Blaming others doesn't change the situation. Instead, it makes our minds even more agitated, leading to more negative emotions against a person or the system. The equanimity of mind - an essential ingredient on the spiritual path, becomes even more distant. We must constantly remind ourselves of the divine illusion (Maya), and as Shri Krishan alerts us in Gita 7.14, this Maya can be transcended only by those who take refuge in HIM. This realization can lead us to a deeper understanding of our actions and reactions and, ultimately, to an enlightened state.
Often, our dukh (grief) that results from asantosh (discontentment) even jolts our shraddha (faith) in HIS kripa (grace). The mantra is to shun dosharopan, always have an attitude of gratitude for HIS blessings (shukar), faith (shraddha) in HIS grace, and contentment (santosh) in what you have received.
Nishadraj is still under the illusionary spell of HIS Maya and distant from Gyan or HIS bhakti. This delusional and mournful state prepares the ground for Lakshman's discourse. / DAILY WORLD /
