AACHARAN
Shri Ram continues His discourse in Shri Ramcharitmanas 7.46, now bringing in the hue of His divinity. He delineates the conduct (aacharan) that makes a bhakt (devotee) dear to Him.
bair trasa, sukhamay . asa.
anarambh amani, anagh . bigyani.
"Such bhakt has no enmity or quarrel with anyone. He is devoid of any hope or fear. He is ever joyful and undertakes nothing prompted by a motive. He is without any desire, pride or sin. Free from anger, he has attained the highest wisdom."
This bhakt is like a pristine, calm freshwater lake - unsoiled by any rumblings of human desire. He has no quarrel with anyone, no axe to grind. He has only love in his heart for his Aaradhya (deity) and for everyone and everything in His creation. Surrendering to Him, he transcends his pride with the realisation that we get results based on our karma, and the result is not in our control; it is His will. Thus, he has no expectation from anyone and, therefore, no hope of any gain or fear of any loss. Nothing in this Maya (His illusionary creation), no creature or material possession, can make him happy or sad. For this bhakt, only He is the source of all joy. This bhakt depends only upon Him his Aaradhya.
This bhakt is anarambh and aniket, i.e. free from desire/attachment. In Gita 2.62, Shri Krishna says freedom from desire (kaam) and attachment leads to freedom from anger (krodh). This makes him anagh - non-doer of paap karma (wrong actions). Further, his self-realisation helps him perform his worldly duties without getting mired in this world. He is a lotus (Gita 5.10)!
Shri Ram's bhakti is thus unshackling. It grants the self-realisation that frees the bhakt from anger and puts him on the path of righteousness. Thereafter, a bhakt's conduct of self-surrender makes him prideless, freeing him from any desire or attachment!/ DAILY WORLD /
