DW BUREAU / chandigarh The Board of Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) on Wednesday approved the allotment of work to upgrade the remaining sewage treatment plant (STPs) in the city. The clearance was approved in the meeting headed by Adviser to the Administrator Manoj Parida As per the sources, the tender for the upgradation of STPs at Raipur Kalan and Raipur khurd has been allotted at the cost of Rs. 123 crores to GCJ Environment Pvt. Ltd. Whereas, the upgradation work for 3BRD and Dhanas plants have been allotted to M/s Passavant Environment Pvt. Ltd at a cost of Rs 74 crores. According to the sources, the combined reserve price for STPs at Raipur Kalan and Raipur Khurd was Rs 126 crore and the same for 3 BRD and Dhanas plants was fixed at Rs. 75 crore. A combined tender was floated for the four STPs. The work is estimated to be started from September. Seven firms applied to upgrade the plants at Raipur Kalan and Raipur Khurd, and three firms applied for those at Dhanas and 3BRD. Earlier, CSCL floated a Rs. 700 crore tender to hire a single agency to upgrade all five STPs of the Municipal Corporation but the MC general house did not approve the proposal citing the budget for the work was on the higher side. Therefore, the tender was split in three parts ? one for Diggian plant, one for the STPs Raipur kalan and Raipur and one for 3BRD and Dhanas STPs. (editor@dailyworld.in)
