Haryana State Election Commissioner, Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that the second phase of the Panchayati Raj Institutions elections was held peacefully.
He said that voting was held for Panchayat Samiti members and Zilla Parishad members in 9 districts namely Ambala, Charkhi Dadri, Gurugram, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa and Sonipat.
The fate of 1244 Panchayat Samiti members and 158 Zilla Parishad members in 57 blocks of 9 districts was sealed. Now after the completion of the polling of all phases of Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state, the results of the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be declared after the counting of votes on November 27, added Sh. Dhanpat Singh.
He said that for the second phase, the polling for the post of Panch and Sarpanch in these 9 districts will be held on November 12. Their results will be declared on the same day.
The State Election Commissioner congratulated all the employees and officers engaged in election duty on the completion of voting for the second phase of Panchayat Samiti and Zilla Parishad members.
He informed that a total of 48,67,132 voters were enrolled in this second phase. 33,44,672 voters exercised their voting right till 7.30 pm, which is 69.1 percent of the total voters of these nine districts.
At some polling stations, even at 7:30 pm, the voters were seen standing in queues to cast their vote, he added.
Sh. Dhanpat Singh informed that polling was held peacefully in all 9 districts, no untoward incident was reported anywhere.
Some incidents of malfunctioning of EVMs was reported at some places, but the officials involved in the election process got those machines replaced immediately and the polling was completed, shared the State Election Commissioner.
Sh. Dhanpat Singh said that wherever polling is over, EVMs have been safely deposited by the polling staff. All EVMs will be kept in strongrooms. Polling staff, police personnel and other officers engaged in the polling performed their work well.
government will redress legacy waste
Haryana Chief Secretary, Sanjeev Kaushal said that while working towards bio-mining, the state government will redress legacy waste by December 2023. Processing of 101 lakh metric tonnes of old waste is to be done in the state. So far 38.74 lakh metric tonnes of waste have been disposed of and a target has been set to dispose of the remaining 62.60 lakh metric tonnes of old waste.
Kaushal was holding a meeting with District Deputy Commissioners, Urban Local Bodies, and Municipal Corporation officials through video conferencing regarding the compliance of NGT orders related to Bio-Mining, here today. The meeting was also attended by, the Chairman, Monitoring Committee of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) Justice Pritam Pal, Member, NGT, Smt. Urvashi Gulati, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. Arun Gupta.
The CS said that an amount of about Rs. 262 crores will be spent on the processing of legacy waste. The state government has also sent an additional demand of Rs. 155 crores to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
