Punjab DGP orders registration of FIR against Honey Singh

The Punjab police have ordered registration of an FIR against noted Indi-pop singer Honey Singh for allegedly singing vulgar song “Makhana” following a recommendation from the Punjab State Women Commission, it is learnt.
The song had gone viral on the social media in December last, following which the Women Commission had taken suo motu cognizance.
Sources said that Punjab Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta has ordered the registration of the FIR and the case will be investigated by the Cyber Crime Wing of the state police. The Cyber Crime DSP  Gurjot Singh Kler is likely to investigate the case.
Chairperson of the Punjab State Women Commission, Manisha Gulati said a status report in this regard was sent by the State Women Commission to the Punjab police on July 12. On the basis of our recommendations, the State DGP has ordered the registration of the FIR against Honey Singh.
