SNID programme to be conducted on September 20 as per COVID-19 guidelines

DW BUREAU / MOhali Pulse Polio Campaign, Sub National Immunization Day(SNID) would be undertaken in high risk areas of Polio on September 20, informed Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar. He said that Ministry of Home Affairs has re-opened quite a few activities in areas outside Containment Zone and allowed essential services in lockdown areas of Containment Zone. Subsequently, Ministry of Home Affairs has provided an exception in the containment zones to conduct Pulse Polio Programme by considering the Pulse Polio Programme activity as an essential service. So, Pulse Polio round will be carried out in Containment Zone, buffer and beyond buffer areas. The Pulse Polio SNID programme would be undertaken in all identified high risk areas of Polio including Containment Zones as per the covid-19 guidelines. Pertinently, India is maintaining polio free status since last polio case detected in the year 2011. To sustain the gains made so far and to maintain the polio free status it is imperative to regularly conduct the pulse polio immunization to maintain population immunity. (
