Police officers trained to use iRAD App to prevent road accidents


category Regional, deoria, , tags Regional, deoria, , DW BUREAU Deoria Over 150 police personnel from the Deoria district completed training of Integrated Road Accident Database (iRAD) system on Thursday. iRAD is an application web portal started by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India and developed by IIT Chennai team, that will help in analysing the cause of road accidents and help take corrective measures to prevent accidents in future. As many as 90 Sub Inspectors of 22 police stations also received the training. Under Road Safety Fortnight (July 17, 2023 to July 31, 2023), 54 police officials were trained in the Police Lines, Deoria on July 25, 2023 by the District Roll Out Manager, NIC (Deoria), Saurabh Gupta under the guidance of Deputy Director (IT) DIO, NIC Deoria, Krishnanand Yadav and in the presence of ASP Rajesh Sonkar, said a press statement. In coming days, police field officers will visit every accident spot in their respective jurisdiction and fill all details of the road accident in the App like location, time, number of vehicles involved, injured death count of drivers passengers pedestrians, weather, initial observation and causes etc. Apart from the police, officials of the Regional Transport Office, Public Works Department and the Health Department (district hospital medical college, CHCs, PHCs) also have access to the application. Assistant engineers and junior engineers of Public Works Department, Deoria were also trained in iRAD during the road safety fortnight. On receiving the request from the police stations, the concerned junior engineer has to go to the accident site and feed the details of road designing etc. in the App. On July 28, 2023, doctors, pharmacists and data entry operators of all CHCs and PHCs were also trained on iRAD App through online zoom meetings under the direction of CMO, Deoria, Dr. Rajesh Jha. Doctors and pharmacists of District hospital (Medical College) Emergency ward have already trained in iRAD. Once the details of the accidents are filled by the police personnel in the application and request of technical inspection of vehicle or inspection of road is generated through iRAD, the officer of the concerned departments has to feed all the details in the App or web portal. The details of injured or dead people in a road accident will also be filled in by the health officials in iRAD. (editor dailyworld.in)
