category Regional, samrala,, tags Regional, samrala,, DW BUREAU SAMRALA Sanyukat Kisan Morcha has decided to hold a mahapanchayat in Delhi at Ramlila ground on March 20 against the raids conducted by CBI on farmer leaders. The SKM held demonstrations at different district headquarters on Friday and burnt effigies of the central government and submitted memorandum to the President through DCs. In their memorandum they alleged that on February 21 teams of CBI from Delhi raided the houses and commercial premises of their leaders Harinder Singh Lakhowal and Satnam Singh Behroo. Lakhowal s residence was raided at his village in Lakhowal, Mohali besides this his cold store and petrol pump was also raided by the CBI. In the same manner Satnam Singh Behroo s house was also raided at his village of Behroo. The memorandum said that the proper information was not given before raids. No search warrants were shown, even FIR if any registered was not shown to the affected leaders. In contrary leaders and their families were harassed and misbehaved by the CBI teams. The memorandum alleged that their houses were ransacked for hours together. CBI took away cheques, bank pass books, letterheads of the unions and other important documents were also seized by CBI. They said it s not clear till now that in which case the farmer leaders were involved. They said this action of the CBI had created a media trial on the farmer leaders, which made them the culprits. This action had tarnished the imago of union leaders in the civil society. They appealed the president through memorandum that the raids and media trial should be stopped. The farmer leaders alleged that the political vendetta unleashed by the central government on the farmer leaders as they had raised the voice against the farm laws in the past. (editor dailyworld.in)
