Dr Zora Singh, Chancellor of the University, speaking on the occasion, highlighted the importance of spirituality in professionalism. He said the month of March is an eventful month for the Sikh community as it marks the beginning of Nanakshahi Samvat 555, which is the Sikh New Year. Dr Zora Singh also spoke about the role and contribution of the Sikh warrior Akali Phula Singh, and paid homage to him on his martyrdom day. He highlighted that Akali Phula Singh Nihangwas an Akali Nihang Sikh leader. He was a soldier of the Khalsa Shaheedan Misl and head of the Budha Dal in the early 19th century. Dr Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Chancellor, Dr Sandeep Singh, President, Dr Virendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor, and Dr Harsh Sadawarti, Vice-President, were present along with other dignitaries on the occasion.
