category Regional, patiala, , tags Regional, patiala, , DW BUREAU PATIALA Eminent Hindi writer and former head of the Hindi department of Punjabi University Dr Manmohan Sehgal was honoured by his old students at G.N. Girls College at Dakala road here today. On his arrival in the college Sehgal s old students presented him a bouquet and touched the feet of their teacher. While addressing his old students Dr Sehgal said he was happy to see his old students after a long time. He said he felt blessed to be with his old students. He said being a writer he was on a God gifted mission which he completed during the lifetime. Speaking on the occasion, Phool Chand Manav, an old student of Dr Sehgal and him a prominent Hindi writer, said they had all learnt the technique of teaching from Dr Sehgal and they were carrying on to our next generation. Prof. Dr. V.K Walia said the 92 year old DrSehgal has written more books that the number of years of his age. He has written about 24 novels he said. His important works included his Hindi translation of Guru Granth Sahib and history of Hindi literature of Punjab. Prof Walia said that many state and national awards had been conferred on Dr Sehgal. He was awarded Sahitya Shiromani award by the state government. Principal of the college Dr. Manju Walia, who is also the old student of Dr Sehgal, welcomed the guests in the college. Dr. Prem Sharma Parshad, who was the stage secretary at the function, said all the old students were indebted to Dr Sehgal as he along with the syllabus had taught them moral values of life. Naresh Kaushal chief editor of Dainik Tribune has also sent his message from Chandigarh. Among others who spoke on this occasion were Surjit Singh Vishad, Suresh Nayak, Dr Daharmpal, Girdhari Lal Batra, Dr. Yogeshwar Kaur, Dr Sanjay Jain, Dr Ram Niwas Sharma. (editor dailyworld.in)
