RBU students take out AIDS awareness rally

Under the Red Ribbon Club, the University School of Sciences of the Rayat Bahra University organised an awareness rally on HIV/AIDS in the neighbourhood villages. The rally saw massive participation by students and staff. The students supported the awareness drive by making the Human Symbol of Red-Ribbon representing solidarity with HIV-positive people. Participants raised slogans to spread the message of HIV/AIDS awareness among masses as prevention
is the only cure.
A slogan writing competition preceded the rally. First prize was bagged by Anatika from the Department of Life Sciences, second position was won by Meenakshi from the Department of Chemistry; and the third position was bagged by Simran from the Department of Environmental Sciences.
Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, flagged off the rally. He motivated the students to participate in such extracurricular activities which are in the best interest of the society. Chancellor of the university Gurvinder Singh Bahra appreciated the efforts in spreading awareness among the masses against the deadly disease. He said that the Rayat Bahra University is committed to provide best services to the society. Dr Simerjit Kaur, Dean of Students Welfare and Nodal Officer of the Red-Ribbon Club, highlighted the causes, mode of spread and preventive measures against HIV/AIDS.
