DW BUREAU / Chandigarh Haryana Government is seriously working on the arrangements for fire safety to prevent fire incidents in all Government buildings in the state. Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal held an important meeting today regarding the fire safety audit and gave strict directions to the officers that in the coming 3 months all the Government buildings should fulfill the fire safety norms. This was the third review meeting on the same topic in the last three months. The Chief Secretary directed the officers to conduct a special fire safety audit of cinema halls and multiplexes operating across the state soon. Similarly, in the coming time, fire safety audits will be carried out in Universities as well. Kaushal said that untimely fire incidents not only result in loss of property but also put the lives of citizens in danger. Therefore, all Government buildings should have complete fire prevention arrangements. He added that any laxity towards ensuring this work will not be tolerated. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary was apprised that Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal, Al-Falah Medical College, Faridabad, Dhauj, ESIC, Faridabad, Maharaja Agrasen Medical College, Agroha, Hisar, Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mulana, Ambala, NC Medical Colleges & Hospitals, Israna, Panipat and Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College, Nalhar, Mewat have complete fire safety norms and NOCs have been issued. Apart from these, NOC has been issued for Operation Theatre, Trauma Centre and Auditorium buildings in PGIMS, Rohtak for fulfilling fire safety norms but NOC will be issued soon for the remaining blocks as well. NOC has also been issued to Gurugram's private University SGT University, Budheda. Overall, 10 out of 13 medical colleges/institutions in the state are fully equipped as per fire safety norms, the remaining remaining will meet the requirement in near future. (editor@dailyworld.in)
