DC launches Helmet Bank at Patiala


DW BUREAU / Patiala Sakshi Sawhney, Deputy Commissioner, Patiala on Thursday, launched a Helmet Bank with the help of Patiala Foundation under its ongoing project SADAK at the District Administration Complex. SSP Deepak Pareek, Aditiya Uppal, Commissioner MC Patiala, ADC (Urban Development) Gautam Jain, Harmeet Singh Hundal, SSP Vigilance and chief functionary of Patiala Foundation Ravee Singh Ahluwalia were also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion Sakshi Sawhney said that Patiala Foundation has distributed the 25 helmets to the employees of DC and SSP offices and after Helmet Bank's success we will start its service for the general public also. She praised this road safety initiative and also lauded the earlier efforts of the Patiala Foundation toward promoting Road safety. The two-wheeler users can get their helmets issued from the Helmet Bank and in case, they do not require any then they will have to return the helmet to Helmet Bank, she added. SSP Deepak Pareek said that road safety should be a part of our lifestyle so that what we do as ideal citizens has a positive impact on our children as well. "Wearing a helmet for two-wheelers is like wearing an oxygen mask for a sick person, so not only the driver but also the person sitting behind him should wear a helmet," he said.
