Government Medical College here today organized White Coat Ceremony programme for the new MBBS Batch 2022 students.
The programme started with welcome address by Director Principal of the college Dr. Harjinder Singh who congratulated the students for entering one of the most prestigious field of medicine with huge responsibilities for the ailing society. He cautioned the students against ragging, use of intoxicants and alcohol in the institution and counselled them to focus on academic, social and extracurricular activities. Addressing the students and faculty, Patiala MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli said medicine is the noblest profession but full of challenges and the medical professionals are the real life heroes and deserve salute for their services to the sick.
Dr. Balbir Singh Patiala (Rural) MLA, congratulating the new entrants said it is a proud moment for them and their parents. The doctors are symbols of dedication and goodwill and they are supposed to be ready all the time to treat their patients.
Expressing concern over heavy tuition fee for medical courses, rising incidents of assault on doctors, safe working environment and fight for the rights of the medical professionals, he underlined the need to work together to restore the old glory of this prestigious medical college.
Congratulating the new batch students, Director Research and Medical Education Dr. Avnish Kumar said entrance to medical profession is the beginning of a new chapter in their life and the white coat is the symbol of commitment to serve the ailing society for which they need to opt a disciplined and healthy lifestyle.
