DW BUREAU To administer immunisation drops under Migratory Pulse Polio Campaign being started from September 26 to 28 in Patiala District, a total of 202 teams have been set up to cater 26091 children of 0 to 5 years age group, said Civil Surgeon Dr Prince Sodhi, during a meeting of District Task Force, chaired by Assistant Commissioner, Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, here, today. He apprised the task force members that though there was no case reported in the past 9 years of Polio but as per the directions of the government, to save the children of slum areas and remote areas such as Brick kiln labourers, this special round of immunisation has been chalked out. He said that as many as 220 teams including 18 mobile teams have been given the task of administering polio drops to each child in the age group of 0-5 residing in slum areas, Dana Mandi, shellers, brick kilns etc. During the meeting, Dr Sumit Singh, District Epidemiologist National Vector Borne Diseases, while briefing the house of the current status of Dengue, said that health teams have inspected about 4 lakh households so far to make people aware the people of the Dengue fever. As many as 5000 larvae of Dengue mosquito have been destroyed and reports of 27 people confirmed with dengue fever. Out of these, 7 belong to urban population while 20 to rural. Appealing to the people to observe dry days besides taking care of stagnant water in their places such as old tyres, flower pots, coolers and back tray of refrigerators, he said that as the larvae of dengue mosquito develops in clear water so we have to take extra care in rainy season.
