President Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee and Rajya Sabha MP Kumari Selja said that today during the tenure of BJP government, our constitution is being attacked constantly. The path of equality shown by our Constitution is being changed today under the RSS agenda.
Kumari Selja was speaking in a function organized to commemorate the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji at Guru Ravidas Bhawan, Panchkula today.
Kumari Selja said that today we are remembering Guru Ravidas ji, who raised voice against untouchability and discrimination which was a big challenge many years ago. Not only he raised his voice against untouchability and discrimination, he went beyond that and gave a message for the entire humanity.
Today we have other challenges before us because our Constitution is under constant attack. Many great men including Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad together joined Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in giving us our constitution that guarantees us freedom as well as equality and the right to live
Today, during the BJP government, this constitution is being attacked constantly. Under the RSS agenda, our Constitutional values and constitutional authorities are under pressure and changes to the Constitution are being brought in that endanger our rights. The path of equality that our Constitution has shown is being challenged and trampled today. These people talk about Hinduism. The true essence of the Hindu religion is a belief in equality and embracing diverse viewpoints with equanimity , but BJPs religion is to spread casteism and divide brotherhood.
She said that it was the Congress government, which enacted the Prevention of Atrocities for welfare of Scheduled Castes but when the BJP government came into power, it did not pursue it and did not fight for the matter properly in the Supreme Court due to which the whole Dalit society had to come together.
Others present on the occasion included MLA Renu Bala, President Guru Ravidas Sabha Panchkula Raj Kapoor Ahlawat, General Secretary Gurudayal Singh Bahmani, Vice President, Jagdish Saroha, President Pradesh Mahila Congress, Sudha Bhardwaj, Venu Agarwal, Ranjita Mehta, Saroj Bharti, Preet Singh, Chaudhary Lahiri Singh, President Ambedkar Mahasabha, Suresh, Manveer Kaur Gill, Sushma Khanna, Roopvati, Kalavati, Kamlesh and other prominent personalities.
