The members of Provincial Parliament of Ontario, Canada visited the CII Northern Region Headquarters at Chandigarh today and interacted with the select industry members. The objective of the interaction was to highlight the fact that Canada is looking forward to collaborate with Indian Industry and ensure a fruitful exchange of knowledge, thereby boosting skill enhancement in both the countries.

“Our top priority is to open the trade channels, business & investments between Ontario & India,” said Nina Tangri, Parliamentary Secretary & Representative of Minister Fedeli; Members of Provincial Parliament, Ontario, Canada. She also elaborated upon the various trade friendly policies which have been introduced in Ontario to ensure that the both domestic & international investors & bizmen save on their expenses. “Giving countries access to international talent pool and world class facilities to immigrants always remain our significant goals,” she added.

Deepak Anand, Member of Provincial Parliament, Ontario, Canada said that we are all invariably thinking about investing in each other’s’ country but it is imperative that we have a structured thought process in place that we can nurture and grow along with. He also added that Ontario is one of the best industrial destination to work in and both Indian and Canada have a lot of common focus sectors such as AI, Technology, Renewable energy, Hospitality, Manufacturing and the like.

Sharing her opinion, Mia Yen, Consul General, Consulate General of Canada in Chandigarh said “Our primary focus is to let Canada explore the international market and India holds a key position for us.” She further spoke about the education sector and how Indian & Canadian Institutions may collaborate to inculcate a culture of mutual growth.

CII members present during the interaction discussed about issues faced by Indian industry while trying to invest in Canada. The visiting delegation highlighted the role CII can play in bridging the trade gap between the two nations and connecting Canada with Indian diaspora.
