Punjab Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu and Punjab Kala Parishad Chairman Surjit Patar have expressed profound grief at the demise of eminent personality of literary, art and folk culture field Rajpal Singh, who passed away on Wednesday after a brief illness.
Prof Singh is survived by wife and a son.
Deeply condoling the demise of Prof Singh, Mr Sidhu said the litterateur rendered valuable services, while serving as Punjab Kala Parishad Secretary General, Punjab Sahit Akademi President and Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi Secretary.
Prof Singh served the cause of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiat all his life, which was evident from the way he participated in the meetings, held to finalise the cultural policy of Punjab, Mr Sidhu noted.
The Minister said Prof Singh was also a dedicated teacher, who taught the students with utmost care while serving as the Professor of English at Government Mohindra College, Patiala. He prayed to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
Dr Surjit Patar termed the demise of Prof Singh as a big loss to the folk art, culture and literary field.
