Former Chief Principal Secretary to the Punjab CM, Suresh Kumar is all set to return to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) even as the State Government is weighing all options, both administrative and legal, to get him back to the Civil Secretariat, it is learnt.
Top Government sources told Daily World on Tuesday that several legal experts have been consulted to finalise the Government’s next course of action that could include filing a petition before the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the single bench order quashing his appointment, changing the nomenclature of the post and even recreating the coveted post after changing some of the clauses. “The Government will move the Court only after considering all options. But it is certain that Mr Kumar will soon be back with the Government,” a senior State Government functionary said.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had recently made his intentions clear before the media that Kumar will be his Chief Principal Secretary as long as he’s the CM of Punjab. Capt Amarinder’s two visits to Kumar’s Sector 16 residence in the past 10 days had further assumed significance in light of his recent media statement.
A lot of speculations have been going on ever since the High Court quashed the appointment of the Chief Principal Secretary. Suresh Kumar who is considered close the CM had, however, maintained that he was in no mood to come back to the Government.
