Hours after they summoned Sikh clergy, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee on Wednesday suspended ÔÇÿPanj PyarasÔÇÖ (five beloveds) who had sought clarification from Jatheadrs for their decision and later reversion of pardon to Dera Savha Sauda Chief.
SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar gave the orders to suspend Panj Pyaras, a few hours after they took the decision to summon Jathedars.
The SGPC took a serious note of the development and ordered the suspension of them apart from two other key Secretaries and four employees of the SGPC who were part of the whole episode. The SGPC chief said the decision of the Panj Pyaras was against the Sikh traditions it was an attempt to divide the community that could not be allowed.
He said that the headquarters of three suspended Panj Pyaras would be UP Sikh Mission, Hapur and the rest of the two would be Sikh Mission, Kurukshetra (Haryana).Secretaries Dr. Roop Singh and Manjit Singh were also suspended for administrative negligence.
He said that some employees of the SGPC had on October 20 raised slogans against Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar at Gurdwara Shri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall. He said that four employees namely Bhai Karaj Singh Jathedar Raagi, Bhai Harcharan Singh KhalsaJathedar Raagi, Bhai Harpal Singh Supervisor and Bhai Surjit Singh Parcharak have also been suspended for the act.
Earlier in the day, the Panj Payaras (five beloveds) issued summons to Jathedars of the five Takhts at the Akal Takht on October 23. They said that the move is aimed to seek clarification from the Sikh clergy on first pardoning and then taking back the decision `HukamnamaÔÇÖ against the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The Panj Payaras who issued the summons from the Golden Temple complex included Satnam Singh, Mangal Singh, Tarlok Singh, Sarnam Singh and Major Singh who convened an emergency meeting at the basement of the Akal Takht and later announced their decision in presence of hundreds of devotees in full public view.
In the public address by one of the Panj Pyara, they said they have summoned Jathedar of the Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh, Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Giani Gurmukh Singh, Jathedar of Takht Patna Sahib, Giani Iqbal Singh, Jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib Giani Mal Singh and Granthi Takht Hazur Sahib Giani Ram Singh to appear before them at the Akal Takht at 10 am on Friday.
