AAP party MLA protest out side vidhan sabha on Friday

DW BUREAU / Chandigarh

The main Opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday showed a divided house in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, which met for the Monsoon session, beginning this afternoon.

While the newly appointed Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema took his designated seat in the front row, the party’s rebel faction, led by ousted lop Sukhpal Singh Khaira went a row behind to show their differences with their own party’s ruling group.

Cheema’s repeated efforts through former LoP HS Phoolka and Sunam MLA Aman Arora inside and outside the House to mollify the rebel Khaira group remained futile.

Khaira, flanked by Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu and their other supporting MLAs sat on a row behind the lop Cheema-led faction’s sitting on the front row.

Dakha MLA Phoolka, who even offered Khaira his own seat in front row, which also Khaira declined, told the media that Khaira is unlikely to speak on thd floor of the House this session.

Meanwhile, both the ruling Congress and another Opposition SAD-BJP legislators, led CM Capt Amarinder Singh and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badsl, respectively,

exchanged smiles over AAP’s ‘divided house’ in the House.
